I have to be honest, I’m quite ecstatic. Not because of the drama
itself but because it’s the first post army drama for Song Joong-ki. Some said he left the army and just run into a crazy
project and indeed Descendants Of The Sun
might actually be a big mess and we might all cry our eyes out, but I still I
want to believe the drama will be surprisingly good. I don’t want to bury it
(and Song Joong-ki at the same time) too quickly. The writer, Kim Eun-sook, wrote both hits (the
memorable Secret Garden or City Hall) and misses (the forgettable The Heirs), and regardless of either or
not you liked them, there had been a lot of buzz around those dramas. And this
one is no exception.
For those who maybe were on vacation on Mars all this time and
never heard of Descendants Of The Sun,
the drama will be portray the love story between an UN peacekeeper soldier (Song
Joong-ki) and a volunteer doctor (Song
Hye Kyo) who’ll fall for each other in disaster and disease zones.
In case you also somehow missed the info (you really had long
vacations on Mars then), the drama is totally pre-produced. The crew filmed the
last scene in late December 2015. It will be simultaneously aired both in Korea
and in China. The pre-production was the main condition for the drama to be
aired in China at the same time.
The press conference took place on Monday the 22th February and
pictures speak for themselves. All I have to say is: Kamsahamnida the
army! Song Joong-ki is hotter than ever. Song
Hye-Kyo’s dress isn’t the kind that exactly highlights one’s body. The
color, the cut, something’s odd. She’s covered like a nun. I won’t debate her
look, but for real it could have been better. That said she’s still nice. Onew’s cute as ever, Kim Ji-won is super pretty and
sophisticate (love her hair) and Jin Goolooks manly than ever. Those two look great together and might actually
surprise us a lot.
Do well drama, and if in the end you’re just another beautiful mess,
manage to spare Song Joong-ki. That’s my only plea.
