She’s back, someone pop the champagne. I love Moon Chae Won. It’s a fact. No big theories here. She’s my favourite actress and that won’t change. You can easily imagine how excited I was when her name was mentioned for the upcoming Goodbye Mr. Black. I would have loved to see her in a comedy (she can be funny. Forecast Love is far to be great but Moon Chae Won managed to be funny and cute in it), but any drama with her would do. Her name got quickly attached to the project but then we received zero news for weeks. Not good for the heart. Just sayin’. Since I had nothing more to do, I prayed. First to see her being confirmed and then to see an awesome actor being cast as her male lead. My prayers have been answered…partially.
When I say awesome I mean someone with a large
scale of emotions. We’re dealing with a melo here, the lead must be good. Good
enough to make me cry, to understand his motives, good enough to make me want
hug him and cursed at those who are hurting you. I mean a decent actor who can
be dark, mischievous, charming, nice, all that in one episode. I’m not not
going to lie, I have recollections of Song
Joong-Ki in Nice Guy while I’m writing
this. Give me few seconds to get over it.
Now back to the awesome lead. That’s what I wanted but
not exactly what I got. Well Lee
Jin-Wook is a male and will be the lead in Goodbye Mr. Black. The question here is: will he be awesome? He has
been confirmed for the role but I’m still not sure about how I feel. I want to
believe he’ll be great but then I remember never been touched by him or felt
anything special. He isn’t the worse choice ever but it’s not the best either.
His acting leaves me cold and I still don’t know if I should dance first and
then cry or do the things the other way around. Talk about having mixed
feeling! The news isn’t as terrible as it sounds tough but then
I think about The Time We Weren’t In Love
and the fact I haven’t got yet the chance (or the envy) to start it, partly
because of him (and also because of the poor reviews). I should be alarmed but
I rather be positive. I might be agreeably surprised by Lee Jin-Wook, so much I
could start a fan club. Who knows, right? (If that happens I’ll be the first to
make apologizes!)
I had millions
names for the potential male lead. Someone’s screaming for the names. Here they come: Jung Kyun-Ho, Jo In-Sung, Gong Yoo, Jo Seung-Woo to only name few. But I
guess they were all busy with something else. Tight schedules can be murderer.
Goodbye
Mr. Black is
about a man who’ll be betrayed by his best friend and his lover. As if it wasn’t
enough, he’ll be framed for a crime. No surprise, the once cheerful man will
only dream of vengeance. He’ll be helped by Moon Chae Won in his quest of ‘justice’. Inspired by Monte-Cristo’s story, Goodbye Mr. Black is an adaptation of a
manhwa published in the 80’s. I’ve always liked the Monte-Cristo’s story and if Goodbye
Mr. Black managed to be great I can even forget the fact that I’m not fond
of Lee Jin-Wook! I have high hopes and a total faith in Moon Chae Won.
She’ll rock it and that’s probably what keeps me excited right now.
Goodbye Mr. Black is scheduled for a November’s premiere after The Village. See you then Moon Chae Won!
