the chickens before they are hatched! Gong Yoo is courted to play
the lead in Kim Eun-seok’s new drama
and I want him to urgently accept the offer (and I’m sure I’m not the only one out there excitingly waiting).
Descendants Of The Sun just wrapped up on KBS but the ‘Prince maker’ writer has already secured her next drama. Tentatively called ‘Demon’, the drama will be broadcast on tvN in November (maybe). The project would be a mix of Asian folklore and Eastern lore and the lead is supposed to be a demon or a goblin. Not sure how a goblin love story should sound like but Gong Yoo as a sexy demon? Oh yes please!

Gong Yoo
has been stuck to chungmuro for the last couple of years (Silenced in 2011, The Suspect
in 2013 or more recently A Man and a
Woman in 2015). He’s been away from television since Big. That drama was a hot mess, a disaster, it’s a given. We
all want to forget it and as we’re still working on a way to erase that painful
memory, I’m sure a new Gong Yoo’s drama will help us heal our wounds. Someone
should go and tell him all that, in case he’s still hesitating.
Kim
Eun-seok’s style (a cheesy style for many) has been a hit (Secret Garden, City Hall)
or a miss (The Heirs) for me. But in
a case or another, we can’t close our eyes on the fact that her dramas were
ratings successes or at least they made a lot buzz. I’m expecting another glossy,
fluffy rom-com for her new drama. Nothing new but she’s right. I mean as long
as you have the ‘thing’, and she definitely has, no need of a sudden revolution.
People’s response is positive, so why bother. You don’t change a winning team! So
if the goblins and demons have to be cheesy then so be it. With Descendants Of The Sun wrapping up with
38.8% in this day in age, it’s hard to say no to anything Kim Eun-seok can come
with.
The
successful writer recently confirmed during a radio’s interview she has
some names in mind for her upcoming drama. I hope she pictures Jung Ryeo-won (Bubblegum) next to Gong Yoo. Just sayin…
Gong Yoo’s favourably considering the drama. A four year hiatus is long enough Gong
Yoo,come back. For real just say yes and come back!
